Skuddene På Bergenhus

Director : Anders Teig Client : Pandora Film AS Location : Bergen, Norway Year : 2021

Skuddene På Bergenhus is a short film by Anders Teig, following his earlier work Rubbish Robbers but with a completely different tone and subject. The film features strong performances and striking cinematography, set against the historical backdrop of Bergen in 1946. My role was as the main visual effects artist, responsible for a range of invisible effects designed to blend seamlessly into the film.

Contributions

The VFX work primarily involved removing modern elements — such as buildings and infrastructure — that did not exist in the period setting, as well as adding subtle atmospheric effects including muzzle flashes and smoke. One of the highlights was the opportunity to incorporate practical model photography into several shots.

To add historically accurate ships to the background on a tight budget, I worked with the Bergen Maritime Museum, who kindly provided access to photograph scale models from their collection. These images were then integrated into the live-action plates using compositing and digital grading to ensure period-appropriate realism.

The visual effects work supported the film's historical authenticity without drawing attention to itself, helping maintain immersion and continuity throughout. The seamless integration of digital and practical elements contributed to the film's understated yet powerful atmosphere.
