This project for Bybanen Utbygging AS involved producing a series of 3D visualisations for stages two and three of the Bybanen Light Rail network extension in Bergen. The visualisations were used in public information materials and presentations. The design work was led by Fuggi Baggi Design for stage two and Anti AS for stage three.
Working closely with the client and art directors, we defined a set of key perspectives for each planned stop. I was responsible for principal photography, data preparation, and the integration of diverse datasets — including 2D and 3D CAD, BIM, and GIS sources — into photorealistic 3D environments.
One of the key challenges was dealing with a very diverse and evolving data set. 2D&3D CAD, BIM and GIS data all had to come together seamlessly in the 3d scenes. Materials and textures were created based on photographs from the stops from stage one to guarantee accuracy.
After principal photography and data consolidation, I handled the 3D modelling and rendering process, followed by iterative reviews with the client and design teams to ensure that all elements were accurately represented and as up-to-date as possible.
The visualisations closely reflected the final built environment and were instrumental in communicating the project's visual identity and scope to the public. The images were widely circulated and supported a clearer understanding of the upcoming infrastructure and contributed to smoother communication during the construction phase.
